The Lord of the Ring Trilogy With Special Extended DVD Editions = 12/14/2004

| |

From The Digital Bits for 9/28/2004:

"We certainly expected this... New Line has announced that the 4-disc Special Extended DVD Editions of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King will all be available in a single box set on 12/14 (SRP $119.97). So if you haven't gotten them yet, here's the perfect chance. Basically, the three separate 4-disc sets will be packaged together in a new outer slipcase. There's nothing new in this release - no exclusive bonus discs or anything. This is just a way to sell all the Extended Editions in one package for those who may wish to purchase them that way."

Conan O'Brien to replace Jay Leno in 2009

According to MSNBC's article, Jay Leno will be stepping down after 17 years (1999) as the Tonight Show host. NBC chose the 50th anniversary of the "Tonight" show on Monday to announce that Jay Leno will be succeeded by "Late Night" host Conan O’Brien in five years -- or thousands of jokes from now. The unusual succession plan solves a delicate problem for NBC, blocking other networks from poaching O'Brien to move him to an earlier time slot.

Tales From Making the 'Star Wars' Trilogy

|

This CNN's article (thanks /.) says: "Fans invariably take Star Wars too seriously, but the people behind the sci-fi series recall the experience as a surreal comic opera. Training a monkey to play Yoda? Studio complaints that Chewbacca was pantsless? The only thing that worked on R2-D2 was the dwarf inside?"

SomethingAwful's doctored photographs for this week is about unlikely movie prequels. Again, some of these might be offensive/bad.

Transformers: A History tells a very long story about the Transformers. I am not sure how accurate it is.

"24" Fourth Season Premiere Details

Dark Horizon's story says:

"Fox has released details of the first episode of the fourth season of "24" over at Mediasharx and finally some details about this 'slimmed down' new season have been revealed. Coming off a solid but somewhat disappointing third year, Fox has revived the show a bit by leaving only Kiefer Sutherland as the main regular returning this time around whilst much of the cast has been restaffed.

New Star Wars Trilogy DVD in 2007? Also, other good interview questions and answers...

|

I just read this interview from TheForce.net. The Washington Post had an online interview (Live Online) with Van Ling, the DVD Producer of Star Wars Trilogy DVD (episodes 4-6). There might be another DVD release, but not until 2007. Two of his answers support this:

Audio Problems in Star Wars Trilogy DVD set?

| |

According to this (9/20/04 - 12:30 PM PDT), this (9/20/04 - 10:30 PM PDT), and TheForce.Net, there are audio issues in Star Wars Trilogy DVD set.

Lucasfilm denied with this statement, "We are always impressed with how closely fans listen to the many different sound mixes we have made for the Star Wars movies over the years. It is flattering to know that, indeed, the audience is listening.

Star Wars vs. Star Trek in Five Minutes

| |

Star Wars vs. Star Trek in Five Minutes article defines itself:

"First, Star Wars vs. Star Trek normally means "could t' Empire kick t' Federation's @ss". If it's a question o' taste (ie- "do you like Star Wars more than Star Trek"), debate becomes impossible because t' answer be subjective. Anyway, once we agree that we're talkin' about military prowess, people like t' perform substitutions: instead o' Federation vs Empire, suddenly it's t' Borg vs t' Empire, or Species 8472 vs t' Empire, or t' Q vs t' Empire, or perhaps t' race that built t' Dyson Sphere vs t' Empire, because all o' them showed up at some time or other in Star Trek. But lest we forget, Star Trek be basically about t' Federation, remember? That's t' technology base. Subject changes be quiet admissions that t' Empire would wipe t' floor with t' main characters o' Star Trek, so you've got t' resort t' one-episode wonders (even if they're long-gone, or just as likely t' turn on t' Federation, or if they've been stymied by t' Federation in t' past, which would call their abilities into question)."

My good old entertainment buddy, Spaceman Spiff sent me an e-mail to tell me about The Incredibles movie trailer posted online. He said, "Apparently, this debuted in front of Sky Captain this weekend. I saw the links below at Ain't It Cool News (AICN)."

They are not high quality that you see on QuickTime's trailer page. Here are the downloadable movie links:

The Living Room Candidate

| |

/.'s story talks about The Living Room Candidate that is an exhibition that maintains a comprehensive and detailed collection of over 300 commercials from the past fourteen elections (1952-2000).

It is interesting to see those old TV commercial ads, especially from 1952.
