Force Dynamics 301: A high performance, commercial quality motion system.

| | | | | | | | | | |

The Force Dynamics 301 is a high performance, commercial quality motion system. It is one of a tiny handful of motion simulators designed from the ground up for racing simulation, and its performance far exceeds that of systems costing many times more. The 301 is designed to be adaptable for nearly any use, from personal motion simulation, to carnival rides and theme parks, to retail simulation centers, to team and sponsor promotions. It can do:

  • 3 degrees of freedom; high center of rotation
  • 60 degrees pitch/roll
  • 18" vertical travel
  • 80 degrees/sec maximum rotational velocity
  • 24"/sec maximum vertical velocity
ships with control and setup software; includes support for Live For Speed, NASCAR 2003, Richard Burns Rally, and others

Is the Half-Life 2 EULA and its Steam illegal?

| | | | |

This Inquirer article says many people are having problems connecting to the Steam servers to play Half-Life 2. People say that you could always use offline mode to play without an Internet connection, but these people seem oblivious to reports online that many people are unable to get this mode to function properly.

More interesting, perhaps, are the legal agreements that surround a purchase of Half-Life 2. One is that no mention of Steam is on the HL2 box or in the End User License Agreement (EULA), yet it is required to play. The second is that where a gamer buys a copy of the game for which the CDKey has already been hacked, he/she will have to wait up to two weeks to get a replacement from Sierra/Vivendi, since shops will generally not take back opened software. The third is that no copy of the game can be sold without paying Valve a $10 fee to transfer the CD-Key to another Steam account.

The German Consumer Association has recently found that the packaging on Half-Life 2 is misleading.

Do game designers burn out like rock stars?

| | | | | | | | | |

A Guardian Unlimited's Gamesblog asks if do game designers burn out like rock stars. The games industry is getting on a bit now, and so are many of its key 'superstars'. You may not think it, given the proliferation of sequels and movie tie-ins that clog up the charts like that sickly white glue in the veins of heavy smokers, but this is a creative business. No matter how many people are involved in the process, there must be a spark of inspiration somewhere at its core. So what happens when the spark falters, or goes out?

Point of Existence modification for Battlefield Vietnam

| | | |

Point of Existence is a modification (mod) for Battlefield Vietnam game. It is a game like Desert Combat modification for Battlefield 1942 game. It is between U.S.A. and Russia.

The latest version is v1.5. I played this mod for over two hours straight, and I had a blast. I took some screen shots and posted the good ones.
